Piao GuangXie
1970
Piao GuangXie's large, figurative paintings show lotus flowers, young Chinese people, and the artist himself swimming or sinking in water. The paintings have a pink hue, the colour of surface prosperity, whereas the wading lotus is a symbol of desolation. Born in 1970 GuangXie lived through the Tiananmen Square massacre and his paintings to reflect his generation’s hesitancy and confusion. Born in Yanbian, Piao GuangXie graduated in fine art from the city’s university, and now lives and works in Beijng. The artist has exhibited extensively across China, and has shown in group exhibitions in Singapore, South Korea and Germany. In addition work by Piao GuangXie has been included in Milan’s Miart art fair, and in auction in Seoul.
Other Chinese Contemporary artists exhibiting with Opus include Bai Tao, Shi LiFeng, Chen QuiChi, Lv Shun, Liu XinTao, Han XuCheng, Shu Yong, Jin Yu and Wang ZhiJie.
