Paul Kenny
Eschewing traditional photography Paul Kenny uses materials as diverse as seawater, glass plates, discarded plastic bottles and household bleach to create photographs that recall lunar landscapes and the night sky. The roots of Kenny’s work lie in repeated visits to remote beaches and almost ritual, annual visits to specific sites. The resulting photographs are infused with fragility, beauty and transience. Comparisons have been drawn between Paul Kenny’s work and that of Susan Derges. Kenny’s work has been collected by Andy Goldsworthy, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and the National Gallery of Scotland, and he has exhibited extensively in the UK. Paul Kenny currently lives and works in Northumberland.
