Marc Riboud

Marc Riboud was one of the pioneering members of the now world renowned Magnum photography agency. Most famous for his expert black and white photography, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa noticed Riboud’s talent, and arranged for his first photograph ‘Paris’ to be published in Life magazine – this photograph is featured here. Close friend Jackie Kennedy was an emphatic admirer of Marc’s photography, who insisted on publication of the deeply atmospheric ‘Capital of Heaven’ mountain-range photographs.

Aside from an esteemed fan base, Riboud boasts a range of official honouraries – amongst them the Prix de la Ville Paris (1998) and the Leica Lifetime Achievement Award (2001). The veteran photographer’s work is held in permanent collections which include the MOMA and Metropolitan Museum in New York, Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville Paris, and Musee de Mexico.
