Jonathan Ridge
Jonathan Ridge is a London-based artist with a background in graphic arts.
Having previously worked in graphic design, screenprinting and advertising, it was an adverse reaction to the superficiality of these environments that informs his painted atmospheres today. Indeed, it is unlikely he would have reached this approach to paint with a more conventional route into fine art.
Ridge’s paintings leave the viewer with a feeling of familiarity, perhaps without really understanding why. Although landscape is an obvious reference point for Jonathan, he describes these layered images in a broader sense as ‘landscapes of the spirit.’
Since graduating Ridge has exhibited in galleries in London and Newcastle.
