Lancashire born Abrahams studied at St. Martin’s School of Art and later at Camberwell School of Arts. He then worked with renowned display mannequin artist Adele Rootstein, and in 1960 began to gain international recognition - with his first show alongside the legendary Sir Peter Blake. Intrigued by the 3D illusion that advertising placards provide, Ivor’s work reflects this interest in surface texture and illusion – which he explores through his mutual talents: sculpture and printmaking. The artist depicts the seemingly common – a garden landscape or the human figure - but with absolute precision of composition, somehow subverts the viewer's recognition of the familiar.
