Han XuCheng
Han XuCheng lives in Beijing, where he has repeatedly exhibited and from where he works in his studio. He has become famous there as a forerunner in China’s thriving contemporary art scene, with inclusion in exhibitions such as The First Beijing Artists in 2005 and the annual Generation of Songzhuang for the past two years – a show which is an undeniable highlight of the country’s cultural year.
XuCheng’s paintings have been noted for their precision of detail, although the subject matter is usually ambiguous; crevasses of colourful shade offset voluptuous waves in images which imply everything from nature, to water, to the human figure. It may be this sense of intrigue which has been recognised by collectors as far as Canada, France and Italy – whilst Kounter Kulture, London represents the artist’s first exhibition outside of China, his reputation has preceded him, and his work is already held privately at destinations worldwide.
Other Chinese Contemporary artists exhibiting with Opus include Piao GuangXie, Shi LiFeng, Chen QuiChi, Lv Shun, Liu XinTao, Bai Tao, Shu Yong, Jin Yu and Wang ZhiJie.
