In the 1960s, Bradford born artist David Hockney studied at the Royal College of Art, London. In the mid sixties, Hockney relocated to California where he began his iconic Swimming Pool studies and portraits. Although generally considered as a Pop Artist due to close links with Peter Blake, Hockney is defined only by his versatile, various approach to a range of subjects, executed in a range of graphic medium including oil, pen, photography, photo-collage and computer imaging to name a few. His reputation was affirmed in 1991 when he was elected to the Royal Academy.
Hockney has exhibited widely throughout the world and his artwork is held in many public and private collections including the Arts Council Collection, London, J Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles and Fine Arts Museum, San Francisco. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
